Most of us want to be valued not just for how much money we can manage to wring out of the system, but how much effort we put in.Isn't really true in the US.
People may feel better when they do something productive but the driving force of American Corrupitalsm since the 80's has been exactly about "how much money we, each business or individual, can manage to wring out of the system".
