Newsweek on a Third party

Most Americans Desperate for Third Major Political Party in Trump Era:

File this Newsweek article under "crappy, out-of-touch media" with a sub-heading "possibly the worst America-needs-a-third-party article ever written.".

If you're looking for something to backup this statement.
"This historic level of support for a third major party isn’t all that surprising when you consider.."
this (from the article)
".. the impact third-party candidates had on the 2016 presidential election: Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson won 3.3 percent of the popular vote—the best performance in the party’s history. Green Party candidate Jill Stein won 1 percent of the popular vote, which isn’t a record high for the party (Ralph Nader holds the title with 2.7 percent in 2000) but is still significant. "
is a pretty weak argument when you could have written this.
".. that in 2016, a majority of Republican voters opted for a not-really-Republican, racist, sexist, loud-mouthed buffoon, who might have starved to death if he hadn't been born rich. While nearly 50% of Democrat voters opted for an old, near-unknown, Jewish socialist instead of the third most popular Democrat party personality of the last 30 years."
I mean, god-damn, nearly 50% of R's and 50% of D's wanted someone instead of the party backed candidates.

50-fucking-percent!

Almost 50 fucking percent of voters wanted someone other than the party choice. That sure-as-hell says a lot more about the state of the two party system than Gary Johnson  or Jill Stein getting around 3% of the vote in the general.
