Rating Obama

Here's a comment from [From Brad Delong] that, I think, is the general feeling of many, maybe most of those on the left, That Obama is a centrist, technocrat and not really all that liberal. What amazes me is that those on the right continue to believe Obama is an evil "librull" bent on bringing his socialist ways to the US.

: "From my perspective, it is fine--not optimal, but fine--that Barack Obama is not a liberal. Somebody pursuing effective technocratic centrist policies that work would be an enormous asset to the world right now.

The fear of all of us is that Obama is not just not a liberal, but that he is not a technocrat--and not a particularly good manager either. If you judge policies not by whether they work but by whether centrist worshippers of bipartisanship approve of them, don't be surprised to find yourself up to your neck..."

Another possibility is that this is really the first time in our history that a president has been opposed by a united, half-crazy opposition, armed with their very-own mass media, propaganda network. How could any government, get anything accomplished, when a large part of the nation is being fed crazy propaganda.
