Capitalism, Fast Cars, and Larry Summers

This is a few years old now but I think it's the best discussion of the financial crisis I've seen.

I'm not really anti-capitalism. My basic belief is that capitalism works pretty well but has major flaws that could contained by smart, effective, government.  Raw capitalism is like a 400 horsepower muscle-car, .. in the right hands, with right safety equipment, and following the right set of rules, it is a fine machine that get you where you want to go very quickly and safely but,...  in the hands of a cocky, drunk, teenager, cheered on by his drunk friends, it's a death trap capable of doing great damage not only to its driver but to other, innocent victims as well.

Most of our first-world world governments have been captured by the worst of the true-believer capitalists, the drunken teenagers. Larry Summers is one of the drunk kids, tuning the car, watching out for the cops, and cheering for them to go a little faster.
