I really get tired of the Voter ID Card arguments. I need an ID card to prove who I am a lot, Schools, businesses, government agencies, alcohol, cigarette, and pot stores ask for them all the time. Most people have them. How about we use some common sense on this. How about this.......
- Pass the damned law. You need a picture ID to vote.
- But, we're going to do a trial run in the next 2 election cycles to see how it works and how much trouble it really causes. You're supposed to have the card but if you don't,... well, we'll let you vote this time. You have a couple of years to get your shit together.
- After that, you have to have a card to vote.
I know,... there really isn't much voter fraud and it probably will stop a few legitimate voters but hell, they can always buy black market cards (did lack of a card stop you from buying beer as a teenager?) and it'll eliminate a stupid conservative rallying point at very little cost.
Anyway,.... This just doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Put the law in place. give the people a couple of cycles to get comfortable with it and allow the Democrats to run some "get you ID" campaigns. Then everyone can set down and shut up.
Oh, and the card can double as your Gun Owner ID card that you'll need when you buy and register your guns.
