Polls really need to start distinguishing between "Independent - leans right" vs "leans left" or maybe "independent last voted R" vs "last voted D" or "Independent - watches Fox News" vs "Independent - doesn't watch Fox".
Almost every Right-wing Fox News watcher I know calls themselves "Independent" but what it means is "I hate liberals and will always vote Republican unless a more Radical Right winger is running".
I just don't see INDEPENDENT being used the same way on the left.
