This is a good example of propaganda poisoning the atmosphere. Fox News and the right-wing propaganda outfits spent years bashing Obama with basically a shit-ton of lies, in the Iran case those listed in the post above but there were many others.
Those lies were designed to increase ratings, enrage the R base, and restrict Obama's policy making ability and they worked. Most Americans, especially Trump supporters never saw a good rundown of the facts and just believe what they saw on Fox.
Trump is one of those believers and now he's making policy, bad policy, based on those lies.
The normal media should shoulder some of the blame. In all matters Israel, Iran, or the Middle East, their views are closer to the Fox News view than to reality.
I'm not sure democracy can exist in a world without an independent, trustworthy media. The vast swamp of propaganda we're living in may be our undoing.
