2020

The blue wave keeps growing - I hope so but I rode a little over 100 miles around the Teabagistan countryside this weekend looking for political signs. Trump signs are out there though not nearly as many as 2016. Many, maybe 30% come with a Confederate flag in tow. The houses they were attached too were an odd mix of rural poor, some very poor, and local 10%-er McMansions.

I saw no Biden signs. Zero. On the plus side I didn't see any "Lock him Up" signs which were all over the place in 2016.

My gut tells me enthusiasm for Trump and hatred of the D candidate is not as wide-spread this time around which is probably a good sign for the Ds. Still the lack of enthusiasm for Biden is a concern.

War

Who is the real threat to peace in the middle east?

Israel has now threatened or attacked several of it's neighbors over the last two weeks.

COVID

In the America I grew up in we would have pulled together to beat this thing. Times have changed

COVID - Masks

Republican Governors have figured it out. Declare a mask mandate but don't put any teeth in it. The pro-mask people will see you as at least trying and the MAGA crowd can still run around without masks, pissing COVID into the air we all breath. Still, I guess better than nothing.

How long is the attention span of the American voter?

COVID - Corporate Power

Corporate America wields more power over people than any state or federal agency

I remember when Teabagistan governor Mike Pence and his Republican-Taliban passed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act allowing bible-bangers to discriminate against LGBT folks. The people around the state and country went wild but Pence wouldn't give until a big business started making waves about not building or doing business in Teabagistan. When business complained he quietly changed the law. [Evangelicals still peeved over Pence's religious freedom act flip]
