Opinion: How the Hamas-Israel conflict can come to an end
"The occupation of Gaza by a terrorist group means there are truces but no lasting peace."
Jennifer Rubin has lost her mind.
Gaza is not occupied by Hamas. Gaza is occupied by Israel.
Israel controls the borders, passage in and out, the coastline, the airspace, the electricity, financial flows, etc. Israel controls Gaza.
The Israeli occupation has turned Gaza into an open-air prison. Hamas is a group living in that prison who are fighting back.
If Hamas disappeared today, there would be another group continue the fight.
The only way to a lasting peace is ending the Israeli occupation. Otherwise, even if Israel kills every last Hamas fighter, there will eventually be another group spring-up to fight for Palestinian freedom.
"The occupation of Gaza by Israel means there are truces but no lasting peace."
