The Rs and Ds basically represent the same team, big donors. The D donors seems to be more corporate business while the current republican big donors are bond-villain like rich folks trying to tilt policy to their twisted political/social views.
This leaves the D's at a disadvantage. R voters seem to get in line behind the bond-villains while D's have to do the donors bidding while trying to get votes from the very people those donor policies hurt.
Put another way: The Democratic Party’s fundamental crisis is that it cannot satisfy its corporate donors and also solve the problems created by those corporate donors. And quite often, the party refuses to do anything other than satisfy its corporate donors.
