From the BLS: Union Membership
In 2021, the number of wage and salary workers belonging to unions continued to decline (-241,000) to 14.0 million, and the percent who were members of unions—the union membership rate—was 10.3 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
If our leaders would give workers power by supporting union growth, wages would rise naturally and minimum wage increases would not be needed. [More on worker power from Chris Dillow here]
Cutting the tie between the job and healthcare with a Medicare for All national insurance plan would help give workers power too.
Of course our leaders in both parties are owned by corporate management so are not allowed to do this.
