The New Yorker: The Looming Threat of a Nuclear Crisis with Iran
I've always felt The New Yorker and The Atlantic were what you read when you want the know view of our east-coast corporate elite.
Anyway,...my take on the link above.
- Trump fucked up the US-Iran Nuclear deal. Broke the deal, established new sanctions, coddled Israel, and was basically a dick.
- Biden and the US are still fucking with Iran. Sanctions, bomber flights, drone attacks, aircraft carriers in the region, still coddling Israel, etc.
- Israel is the wild-card, assassinating Iranian scientists and threatening attacks.
- The world nuclear-order is falling apart. China Russia!
- Iran has pushed their technology too far to return to the deal. Like Israel's view that facts on the ground prevent them from returning to the 1968 borders.
- Despite over 20 years of fuck-ups in the region, the US military is still there, still thinks Iran is the problem and the US military is the solution.
- The US military view of any situation is always well represented in The Atlantic and The New Yorker.
- Any Hamas, Hezbollah, or Houthi attack anywhere in the world is going to be attributed to Iran.
My answer. Drop sanctions on Iran, get a deal to limit their nuclear ability, and play nice with everyone in the Middle East. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to get along.
