Threats to Democracy

I see a lot of "Our democracy is at risk" posts from corporate Democrats and their supporters these days. 

The threats they stress are 

• Trump and Maga.
• Crazy Republicans in red states changing the rules so a bare majority of R voters leads to a state totally controlled by Republicans.
• Third party candidates splitting the vote to allow a Trump victory.

and now 

• Anti-war progressives who won't support Biden over Israel-Gaza.

This week, Biden administration officials have been looking into media cameras with a death-like stare while explaining to us why we must support Israel even as it kills thousands in Gaza.

"visibly shaken"!

They know what Israel is doing in Gaza is wrong. They know the world is against it. They know large numbers of their voters are against it. They know there are war crimes being committed. They want to believe the US is good but they are trapped and must support Israel no matter how bad it gets.

Any hint of not supporting Israel to the fullest is political suicide in the US.

Religious voters will turn on them.

Lobby money will go to defeating anyone who steps out of line.

They are trapped. Locked to Israel and it's war.

They know it's wrong. 

They know it but they can't do anything about.

They have no power.

so I ask, what is a real threat to our democracy?
