Populist Energy

From:  Why Democrats can't get over the grief of losing to Donald Trump

Those eight years saw flashes of left-wing populist outrage like Occupy Wall Street and the first Bernie Sanders campaign. These were handily defeated by the powers-that-be, though, from the NYPD clearing the protesters from Zuccotti Park to the Democratic Party quelling the Sanders insurgency. And at the end of the day there was nowhere for all that populist energy to go but Trump.

Nowhere for that populist energy to go but to Trump.

That is the answer.

The best description of the 2024 (and 2016) loss I've seen.

In 2016 the Corporate D's wanted Hillary. They thought it would be easy. They didn't notice, actually chose to ignore that more half the party, the populists, were voting for Bernie while at the same time Republican populists were smashing the Rs and voting for Trump.

So ...  the Corporate Ds put their finger on the scales for Hillary and she beat Bernie.

... and she was humiliated by the populist Trump.

A post of mine from the 2016 debacle.

Hillary Clinton’s Problem

The most anti-insider election in most of a century and the D's bring one of the most insider candidates ever to the table.

Rinse and repeat for 2020 and 2024.

Again Bernie could have won but the D's would have no part of that. They rigged it so Joe would be the nominee. He did win 2020 but cost them 2024 by not stepping aside early enough.

Recently, they did the same thing to one of their populist favorites, AOC, in a committee assignment.

Now where does the populist energy go?

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
