Indiana Republicans cut property taxes earlier this year so localities have to find a way to make up for the lost funds.
I'm guessing this is just the beginning of additional taxes to hit Hoosiers in the coming years.
Food, beverage tax approved as parks funding solution - Officials say the tax replaces lost property tax revenue, addresses deferred maintenance
Mayor Ron Oler said the tax replaces property tax money taken from the city by legislative changes. Previous losses because of property tax caps led to deferred maintenance in the parks system, Oler said, something that leads to complaints about the parks’ conditions.Another guess is that these new taxes will reduce or eliminate the property tax relief of the low and middle income folks. Rich folk, businesses and farmers will be just fine.
Fine job Indiana Republicans.
