Privatizing Government
It's not always the path to reduced government spending. A new study finds that in most cases, it cost more for the government to hire private contractors to do a job than it does to just have government employees do the job. This makes sense, the contractor must not only pay the employee who actually does the job but he must make a profit, often inflated, for himself and the stockholders, and make enough extra so he can lobby the government to keep the job coming his way. There's a lot of waste in the process.
