Business Insider: The American Health Care System Sucks
Politicians say a lot of dumb things, but perhaps the dumbest thing they say is that the U.S. has "the finest health care system in the world." Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that in 2012, echoing a common Republican talking point in opposition to health care reform.
No. Stop saying this. The American health care system sucks.
We spend about twice as much money per person as our peer countries to achieve roughly the same health care outcomes — and despite all that spending, 48 million people in America lack health insurance coverage.

I wish people would stop saying this.....
48 million people in America lack health insurance coverage. The post above is basically right. Our health care system does suck. It's more expensive than any other system on the planet. Outcomes are not any better and sometimes worse. People can lose their life savings, their homes and their lives in our system. It is an expensive, fucked-up system, but...
the fact that "people lack health insurance" is not a problem with the system, it's a feature.
We don't need "health insurance". We need "health care".
Insurance is just a method of payment for that care. The uninsured can get health care. It's paying for it that's the problem. Without insurance they risk losing everything they have so they tend to under-consume health care until small problems become big expensive problems. Those big expensive costs are then spread to the to the other health care users through higher and higher costs.
I'm one of the about 15% that hates Obamacare because it didn't go far enough. It focuses on getting everyone insurance but everyone hates the insurance industry. Why force them into something they hate when a health care system could be designed to function entirely without the insurance.
Give the people what they need, health care.Fuck the insurance companies.
I say "Medicare for everyone"
