Bad Government

I wonder what all those big-government hating, Tea-baggers in Indiana think of this republican-led government intrusion?

[Singing the anthem: Are you doing it 'right'? | The Indianapolis Star | indystar.com]

"Sen. Vaneta Becker, R-Evansville, has introduced a bill that would set specific "performance standards" for singing and playing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at any event sponsored by public schools and state universities.

The law also would cover private schools receiving state or local scholarship funds, including vouchers.

Performers would have to sign a contract agreeing to follow the guidelines. Musicians -- whether amateur or professional -- would be fined $25 if it were deemed they failed to meet the appropriate standards."

Welfare Drug Tests

From [GinAndTacos]

- Yes, Rick Scott is quite proud of his measure requiring drug testing for all welfare recipients as well as random drug testing for state employees.

He transferred his $62 million stake in Solantic, a walk-in clinic chain that contracts with employers and government agencies to provide drug screening, to his wife – in a revocable trust, so the moment he leaves office he can regain control of the company. So you see, Rick Scott does not own a drug testing facility. He merely founded a chain of fast food-style walk-in clinics and transferred his ownership share to his wife. (This kind of "share shuffle" is prohibited by federal law and in most states wherein at least the pretense of preventing cronyism and conflicts of interest is maintained. But in Florida it's A-OK. Way to go, Shitshine State.)

This move by Florida Gov. Rick Scott looks like political corruption at its finest. Own a chain of drug screening clinics, get elected governer, then pass legislation requiring all welfare recipients to get drug tests, rake in the cash.

I guess our media would be all over it if they didn't have more important stories to cover like [Palin-Revere] and [WeinerGate]

We're doomed.

Drugs: Booze vs. Pot

It's not "drugs" they care about. It whose drug.

You can be high as a kite on the job on legal pain killers or other mind bending legal prescription drugs, you can raise your kid with Ridlin or high-caffeine, sugar laden drinks, you can destroy yourself with alcohol, fat/chemical laden foods or the bible but if you smoked a joint last night and it shows up in your pee today, you're in deep shit.

Let corporate America have control of the Pot market and it would be legal tomorrow.

That makes sense...

AGs To Hold Meeting With Craigslist - CBS News

a guy kills women he meets on craigslist and they want to take away the women's right to advertise on craigslist? craigslist was in no way resposible for this. the woman wasn't responsible. "erotic services" wasn't responsible. the guy was responsible. They could have met at match.com, in a bar or in church. should we make those illegal too?

we need a few less do-gooders in this country.

Smoking Dope - part 2

ok,.. so i was wrong. he loses his Kellog job and maybe a little more.

but,....

our drug laws still suck. if the bong had been a can of Coors Light, a Jack and Coke, a bottle of Bayer aspirin or tylenol, or some other "legal" drug, they would have paid him for the picture and turned it into an ad campaign. The only difference between these drugs and pot is who makes the money and who makes the rules.
